“106. "And invoke not besides Allah, any such that will neither profit you, nor hurt you, but if (incase) youdid so, you shall certainly be one of the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers)."
107. And if Allah touches you with harm, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intendsanygood for you, there is none who can repel His Favour which He causes it to reach whomsoever of Hisslaves He will. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”[Al Qur’an 10:106]Volume 1 : Book 8 : Hadith 419 : (Bukhari)

They toldthe Prophet about it, on which he said, "If any religious man dies amongst those people they would build a place of worship at his grave and make these pictures in it. They will be the worst creature in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection."Volume 1 : Book 8 : Hadith 426 : (Bukhari)

Narrated by 'Aisha: When the Prophet became ill, some of his wives talked about a church which they had seen in Ethiopia and it was calledMariya. Um Salma and Um Habiba had been to Ethiopia, and both of them narrated its (the Church's) beauty and the pictures it contained. The Prophet raised his head and said, "Those are the people who, whenever a pious man diesamongst them, make a place of worship at his grave and then they make those pictures in it. Those are the worstcreatures in the Sight of Allah."Volume 2 : Book 23 : Hadith 472 : (Bukhari)
Narrated by 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle in his fatal illness said, "Allah cursed the Jews and the Christians, for they built the places of worship atthe graves of their prophets." And if that had not been the case, then the Prophet's grave would have been made prominent before the people. So (the Prophet ) was afraid, or the people were afraid that his grave might be taken as a place for worship.Volume 5 : Book 58 : Hadith 213 : (Bukhari)
Narrated by 'Aisha: Um Habiba and Um Salama mentioned a church they had seen in Ethiopia and in the church there were pictures. (By that) he intended to warn (the Muslim) from what they(i.e. Jews and Christians) had done. Volume 7 : Book 72 : Hadith 706 : (Bukhari)
Narrated by 'Aisha and 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas : When the disease of Allah's Apostle got aggravated, he covered his face with a Khamisa, but when he became short of  breath, he would remove it from his face and say, "It is like that! May Allah curse the Jews Christians because they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship." By that he warned his follower of imitating them, by doing thatwhich they did. Bk 4, Number 2114: (Muslim)
Thumama b. Shafayy reported : When we were with Fadala b.'Ubaid in the country of the Romans at a place(known as)Rudis, a friend of ours died. Fadala b. 'Ubaid ordered to prepare a grave for him and then it was levelled; andthen he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) commanding (us) to level the grave. Bk 4, Number 2115: (Muslim)
Abu'lHayyaj alAsadi told that 'Ali (b. Abu Talib) said to him : Should I not send you on the same mission as Allah's Messenger (may peacebe upon him) sent me? Do not leave an image without obliterating it, or a highgrave withoutlevelling It. This hadith has been reported by Habib with the same chain of transmitters and he said: (Do not leave) a picture without obliterating it. Bk 4, Number 2116: (Muslim)
Jabir said : Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) forbadethat the graves should be plastered or they be used as sittingplaces (for the people), or a building should be built overthem. Bk 4, Number 2117: (Muslim)A hadith like this has been transmitted on the authority ofJabir b. 'Abdullah. Bk 4, Number 2118:(Muslim)
Jabir said that he was forbidden to build pucca graves. Bk 4, Number 2121 : (Muslim)
Abu Marthad alGhanawi reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:Do not sit on the graves and do not pray facing towards them. Bk 4, Number 2122: (Muslim)
Abu Marthad alGhanawi reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:Donot pray facing towards the graves, and do not sit on them.
It is not permissible for graves to be left in mosques, whether that is the grave of a wali (“saint”) or of anyone else, because the Messenger (PBUH) forbade that and warned against that, and he cursed the Jews and Christians for doing that.

It was narrated that he (PBUH) said : “May Allah curse the Jews and the Christians, for they took the graves of their Prophets as places of worship.”
[Bukhaari, 1330, Muslim, 529]

He (PBUH) also said: “When a righteous man died among them, they would build a place of worship over his grave and put those images in it. They are the most evil of mankind before Allaah.” (Al-Bukhaari, 427; Muslim, 528)

He(PBUH) said: “Those who came before you took the graves of their Prophets and righteous people as places of worship. Do not take graves as places of worship – I forbid you to do that.” (Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh, 532, from Jundab ibn ‘Abd-Allaah al-Bajali).

So the Prophet (PBUH) forbade taking graves as places of worship and he cursed those who do that, stating that they are the most evil of mankind. So we must beware of that. It is known that everyone who prays at a grave(Dargah) is taking it as a place of worship, and whoever builds a mosque over a grave (Dargah) has taken it as a place of worship. So we must keep graves far away from the mosques and not put graves inside mosques,in obedience to the command of the Prophet (PBUH) and so as to avoid the curse issued by our Lord against those who build places of worship over graves, because when a person prays in a mosque in which there is a grave, the Shaytaan tempt them to call upon the deceased or to seek his help, or to pray to him or prostrate to him, thus committing major shirk(polytheism) and going out of fold of Islam. For all answers related to questions on graves please click : Islam Question and Answer May ALLAH forgive our sins...
