Pundit verifies Messenger was foretold

The Message, October 1997

*The Last Kalki Autar (Messenger) that the Veda has foretold and who is waited on by Hindus is the Prophet Muhammed ibn Abdullah (saw) *

A recently published book in Hindi has raised a lot of hue and cry all over India. In the event of the author being Muslim, he would have been jailed and a strict ban would have certainly been imposed on the printing and the publishing of the book. The author of this important research work "Kalki Autar" i.e. "guide and Prophet of whole universe" comes of a Bengali race and holds an important portfolio at Ilahabad University.
Pundit Vaid Parkash is a Brahman Hindu and a well known Sanskrit scholar and research worker. Pundit Vaid Parkash, after a great deal of toil and hard-work, presented the work to as many as eight great Pundits who are themselves very well known in the field of research in India, and are amongst the learned religious leaders.
Their Pundits, after thorough study of the book, have acknowledged this to be true and authentic research work. Important religious books of India mention the guide and prophet by the specific name of "Kalki Autar" it denotes the great man Muhammed (saw) who was born in Makkah. Hence, all Hindus where-ever they may be, should wait no longer for any other 'kalki autar' but to embrace Islam and follow in the footsteps of the last Messenger of Allah (swt) who was sent in the world about fourteen hundred years ago with a mission from Him and after accmplishing it has long ago departed this world.
As an argument to prove the authenticity of his research, Pundit Vaid Parkash quotes from the Veda, a sacred book among Hindus:
1.    Veda mentions that 'kalki autar' will be the last Messenger / Prophet of Bhagwan (Allah) to guide the whole world. Afer quoting this reference the Pundit Parkash says that this comes true only in the case of Muhammed (saw).
2.    According to a prophecy of Hinduism, 'kalki autar' will be born in an island and that is the Arab territory which is known as 'jazeeratul Arab'.
3.    In the 'sacred' book of Hindus the father's name of 'kalki autar' is mentioned as 'Vishnu Bhagat' and his mother's name as 'somanib'. In sanskrit, 'vishnu' stands for Allah (swt) and the literal meaning of 'bhagat' is slave. 'Vishnu Bhagat' therefore, in the Arabic language will mean Allah's slave (Abdullah). 'Somanib' in Sanskrit means peace and tranquilty which in arabic is denoted by the word 'Amina'. Whereas the last Messenger Muhammed's (saw) father and mother's names were Abdullah and Amina respectively.
4.    In the big books of Hindus, it is mentioned that 'kalki autar' will live on olive and dates and he will be true to his words and honest. In this regard Pundit Parkash writes, "This is true and established only in the case of Muhammed (saw)".
5.    Veda mentions that 'kalki autar' will be born in the respected and noble dynasty of his land. And this is also true as regards Muhammed (saw) as he was born in the respected tribe of Quraish who enjoyed great respect and high place in Makkah.
6.    'Kalki Autar' will be taught in the cave by Bhagwan through his own messenger. And it is very true in this matter. Muhammed (saw) was the only one person in Makkah who has taught by Allah's Messenger Gabriel in the cave of Hira.
7.    It is written in the books which Hindus believe that Bhagwan will provide 'Kalki autar' with the fastest of a horse and with the help of which he will ride around the world and the seven skies/heavens. The riding on 'Buraq' and 'Meraj' by the Prophet Muhammed (saw) proves what?
8.    It is also written in the Hindus' books that 'kalki autar' will be strengthened and heavily helped by Bhagwan. And we know this fact that Muhammed (saw) was aided and reinforced by Allah (swt) through His angels in the battle of Badr.
9.    Hindus' books also mention that 'kalki autar' will be an expert in horse riding, arrow shooting, and swordsmanship. What Pundit Vaid Parkash comments in this regard is very important and worth attention and consideration. He writes that the age of horses, swords, and spears is long ago gone and now is the age of modern weapons like tanks, missiles, and guns, and therefore it will be unwise to wait for 'kalki autar' bearing sword and arrows or spears. In reality, the mention in our books of 'kalki autar' is clearly indicative of Muhammed (saw) who was given the heavenly book known as Al-Qur'an.

Kalki Avatar / Antim Rishi = Prophet Muhammad (s)
Before I continue with the verses and their explanations, let me bring one point to your attention that the translations below are the work of Pandit Raja Ram.

Prati Sarag Parv III Khand 3 Adhay 3 Shloka 5 to 8

"A foreigner spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name will be Mohammad. Raja (Bhoj) after giving this Maha Dev Arab (of angelic disposition) a bath in the Panchgavya and the Ganga water (i.e. purifying him of all sins) offered him the present of his sincere devotion and showing him all reverence said, "I make obeisance to thee. O ye! The pride of mankind, the dweller in Arabia, Ye have collected a great force to kill the Devil and you yourself have been protected from the malecha opponents."

The Prophecy clearly states:

The name of the Prophet as Mohammad.

He will belong to Arabia. The Sanskrit word Marusthal means a sandy track of land or a desert.

Special mention is made of the companions of the Prophet, i.e. the Sahabas. No other Prophet had as many companions as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

He is referred as the pride of mankind (Parbatis nath). The Glorious Qur’an reconfirms this

"And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character"
[Al-Qur'an 68:4]

"Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah, a beautiful pattern (of conduct)".
[Al-Qur'an 33:21]

He will kill the devil, i.e. abolish idol worship and all sorts of vices.

The Prophet will be given protection against his enemy.

Bhavishya Purana in the Pratisarag Parv III Khand 3 Adhay 3 Shloka 10 to 27

"The Malecha have spoiled the well-known land of the Arabs. Arya Dharma is not to be found in the country. Before also there appeared a misguided fiend whom I had killed; he has now again appeared being sent by a powerful enemy. To show these enemies the right path and to give them guidance, the well-known Muhammad (pbuh), is busy in bringing the Pishachas to the right path. O Raja, You need not go to the land of the foolish Pishachas, you will be purified through my kindness even where you are. At night, he of the angelic disposition, the shrewd man, in the guise of Pishacha said to Raja Bhoj, "O Raja! Your Arya Dharma has been made to prevail over all religions, but according to the commandments of Ishwar Parmatma, I shall enforce the strong creed of the meat eaters. My followers will be men circumcised, without a tail (on his head), keeping beard, creating a revolution announcing the Aadhaan (the Muslim call for prayer) and will be eating all lawful things. He will eat all sorts of animals except swine. They will not seek purification from the holy shrubs, but will be purified through warfare. On account of their fighting the irreligious nations, they will be known as Musalmaans. I shall be the originator of this religion of the meat-eating nations."

The Prophecy states that:

The evil doers have corrupted the Arab land.

Arya Dharma is not found in that land.

The Indian Raja need not go the Arab land since his purification will take place in India after the musalmaan will arrive in India.

The coming Prophet will attest the truth of the Aryan faith, i.e. Monotheism and will reform the misguided people.

The Prophet’s followers will be circumcised. They will be without a tail on the head and bear a beard and will create a great revolution.

They will announce the Aadhaan, i.e. ‘the Muslim call for prayer’.

He will only eat lawful things and animals but will not eat pork.

They will not purify with grass like the Hindus but by means of sword they will fight their irreligious people.

They will be called musalmaan.

They will be a meat-eating nation.

Bhavishya Purana, Parv - III Khand 1 Adhay 3 Shloka 21-23:

"Corruption and persecution are found in seven sacred cities of Kashi, etc. India is inhabited by Rakshas, Shabor, Bhil and other foolish people. In the land of Malechhas, the followers of the Malechha dharma (Islam) are wise and brave people. All good qualities are found in Musalmaans and all sorts of vices have accumulated in the land of the Aryas. Islam will rule in India and its islands. Having known these facts, O Muni, glorify the name of thy lord".

Atharvaveda Book XX Hymn 21 verse 6,

"Lord of the truthful! These liberators drink these feats of bravery and the inspiring songs gladdened thee in the field of battle. When thou renders vanquished without fight the ten thousand opponents of the praying one, the adoring one."

This Prophecy of the Veda describes the well-known battle of Ahzab or the battle of the Allies during the time of Prophet Muhammed. The Prophet was victorious without an actual conflict which is mentioned in the Qur’an in Surah Ahzab:

The enemies’ defeat in the conquest of Makkah is mentioned in Atharvaveda book 20 Hymn 21 verse no 9:
This Prophecy of the Veda describes the well-known battle of Ahzab or the battle of the Allies during the time of Prophet Muhammed. The Prophet was victorious without an actual conflict which is mentioned in the Qur’an in Surah Ahzab:

The enemies’ defeat in the conquest of Makkah is mentioned in Atharvaveda book 20 Hymn 21 verse no 9:
"You have O Indra, overthrown 20 kings and 60,099 men with an outstripping Chariot wheel who came to fight the praised one or far famed (Muhammad) orphan."

The population of Makkah at the time of Prophet’s advent was nearly 60,000
There were several clans in Makkah each having its own chief. Totally there were about 20 chiefs to rule the population of Makkah.

An Abandhu meaning a helpless man who was far-famed and ‘praised one’. Muhammad (pbuh) overcame his enemies with the help of God. "You have O Indra, overthrown 20 kings and 60,099 men with an outstripping Chariot wheel who came to fight the praised one or far famed (Muhammad) orphan."

Rigveda Book I, Hymn 53 verse 9:

The Sanskrit word used is Sushrama, which means praiseworthy or well praised which in Arabic means Muhammad (pbuh).

Samveda Book II Hymn 6 verse 8:

"Ahmed acquired from his Lord the knowledge of eternal law. I received light from him just as from the sun."

The Prophecy confirms:

The name of the Prophet as Ahmed since Ahmed is an Arabic name. Many translators misunderstood it to be Ahm at hi and translated the mantra as "I alone have acquired the real wisdom of my father".

Prophet was given eternal law, i.e. the Shariah.

The translation of Verses 5-27 (Sanskrit text of the Puranas, Prati Sarg Parv III: 3, 3) is presented below from the work of Dr. Vidyarthi.
"A malechha (belonging to a foreign country and speaking foreign language) spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name will be Mahamad. Raja (Bhoj) after giving this Mahadev Arab (of angelic disposition) a bath in the 'Panchgavya' and the Ganges water, (i.e. purging him of all sins) offered him the presents of his sincere devotion and showing him all reverence said, 'I make obeisance to thee.' 'O Ye! the pride of mankind, the dweller in Arabia, Ye have collected a great force to kill the Devil and you yourself have been protected from the malechha opponents (idol worshipers, pagans).' 'O Ye! the image of the Most Pious God the biggest Lord, I am a slave to thee, take me as one lying on thy feet.'
"The Malechhas have spoiled the well-known land of the Arabs. Arya Dharma is not to be found in that country. Before also there appeared a misguided fiend whom I had killed [note: e.g., Abraha Al-Ashram, the Abyssinian viceroy of Yemen, who attacked Mecca]; he has now again appeared being sent by a powerful enemy. To show these enemies the right path and to give them guidance the well-known Mahamad (Mohammad), who has been given by me the epithet of Brahma is busy in bringing the Pishachas to the right path. O Raja! You need not go to the land of the foolish Pishachas, you will be purified through my kindness even where you are. At night, he of the angelic disposition, the shrewd man, in the guise of a Pishacha said to Raja Bhoj, "O Raja! Your Arya Dharma has been made to prevail over all religions, but according to the commandments of 'Ashwar Parmatma (God, Supreme Spirit), I shall enforce the strong creed of the meat-eaters. My follower will be a man circumcised, without a tail (on his head), keeping beard, creating a revolution, announcing call for prayer and will be eating all lawful things. He will eat all sorts of animals except swine. They will not seek purification from the holy shrubs, but will be purified through warfare. Because of their fighting the irreligious nations, they will be known as Musalmans (Muslims). I shall be the originator of this religion of the meat-eating nation."

Translation by Pandit Raja Ram is given below

"He gave the Mamah Rishi a hundred gold coins, ten chaplets, three hundred steeds and ten thousand cows."

The root of the word Mamah is Mah which means to esteem highly, honor, revere, to magnify and to exalt. The word "Mohammad" means "the praised one" in Arabic. In Sanskrit, many Muslim names are used with a slight change. For Example, 'Mahmud' Ghaznavi, who briefly ruled parts of India, is referred to as 'Mamud' Gajnavi. Therefore, Mamah is synonymous with Mohammad when the full meaning of the verse is considered.

Explanation of the above verse:

The hundred gold coins refer to the early companions of Prophet Muhammad, eighty of whom migrated to Abyssinia to escape unbearable persecution. In Shatpath Brahmana, a revealed commentary of the Yajur Veda, the gold is metaphorically used for denoting the high spiritual power of a man.

The ten chaplets refer to ten excellent companions of Prophet Muhammad, who were given the good news of Paradise by the Prophet. They are known to Muslims as 'Ashra-i-Mubbashshara.' Their names are - Abu Bakr (ra), 'Umar, 'Uthman, 'Ali, Talha, Zubair, 'Abdur Rahman ibn 'Auf, S'ad bin Abi Waqqas, S'ad bin 'Zaid and Abu 'Ubeidah (may Allah be well-pleased with them). They are the distinguished personalities about whom the Vedas speak of as Dash ashrijah - 'ten bouquets from the Paradise.'

Three Hundred Good Steeds (horses of Arab Breed) refers to those companions of Prophet Muhammad who fought at 'Badr.' (Their actual number was 313; however, in many prophecies the numbers are usually rounded up). The Sanskrit word Arvah means a swift Arab horse particularly used by Asuras (non-Aryans).

Ten Thousand Cows refer to ten thousand companions who accompanied the Prophet when he conquered Mecca. The Sanskrit word 'go' is derived from gaw meaning to go to war, and it is used for both an ox and a cow. A cow or an ox as described in the Vedas represents both as a symbol of war and peace and amity. We find both these qualities in the companions of Prophet Muhammad. They were saintly men, pious and compassionate like a cow, and they were fierce and strong in establishing peace and justice.

A Hadith of Prophet Muhammad will make this prophecy even more clear. It is narrated in Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 9, number 159 and an additional deatil in Saheeh Muslim: Sharh an-Nawawee, Vol. 8. This Hadith refers to a dream of the Prophet while he was in Makkah, i.e., before his migration to Medina:

"Abu Musa related that the Prophet (pbuh) said, "I saw in a dream that I was migrating from Makkah to a land where there were date palm trees. I thought that it might be the al-Yamamah or Hajar, but it turned out to be Yathrib (Medina). And I saw cows (being slaughtered, as quoted in Sahih Muslim) there - and what is with Allah is better. Eventually, the cows proved to symbolize the believers (who were killed) on the day (of the battle) of Uhud, and the good (which I saw in the dream) was the good and reward of truth which Allah bestowed upon us after the battle of Badr."'

This Hadith shows that cows in the dream represented the Prophet's companions. The ten thousand cows in the Vedic mantra thus refer to ten thousand saintly companions of Prophet Muhammad.

Translation is by Pandit Raja Ram.

Mantras (verses) 1 through 13 of the Kuntap Sukt (Atharva Veda)

1. Listen to this O people! a praiseworthy shall be praised. O Kaurama we have received among the Rushamas sixty thousand and ninety. [population of Makkah at the time of Prophet's triumphant entry in Makkah].

2. Twenty camels draw his carriage, with him being also his wives. The top of that carriage or chariot bows down escaping from touching the heaven.

3. He gave the Mamah Rishi a hundred gold coins, ten chaplets, three hundred steeds and ten thousand cows. [100 early companions, 80 of them migrated to Abyssinia; ten elect companions who were given the good news of paradise by the Prophet; 313 companions of the battle of Badr; and 10,000 companions who accompanied the Prophet in the triumphant entry of Makkah and cleansing of Ka'bah of Idols].

4. Disseminate the truth, O ye who glorifies [Ahmad], disseminate the truth, just as a bird sings on a ripe fruited tree. Thy lips and tongue move swiftly like the sharp blade of a pair of shears. [The Prophet's state when he received revelation through Archangel Jibril (Gabriel)].

5. The praying ones with their prayers hurry on like powerful bulls. Only their children are at home, and at home do they wait for the cows. [Cows refers to companions of the Prophet. Prophet's companions strict adherence to five daily prayers at appointed times. Refers to Battles of Badr, Uhud, and Ahzab (Ditch or Allies)].

6. O you who praises (the Lord), hold fast the wisdom, which earns cows and good things. Disseminate this among the divines, just as an archer places his shaft on the right point. [wisdom of the Qur'an].

7. Sing the high praise of the king of the world or the Light of the Universe, who is a god and the best among men. He is a guide to all people and gives shelter to everyone. [Prophet Muhammad's qualities].

8. He who affords shelter to everybody, gave peace to the world, as soon as he mounted the throne. Men in Kuru-land are talking of his peace-making at the time of the building of the house. [Kuru means one who protects a house in Hebrew and Kore means a house. It refers to the first house of worship, the Ka'bah. In this sense, Kuru-land means the land of Koreish. This Mantra refers to the rebuilding of the Ka'bah five years before Muhammad's prophethood and his role in peace-making when each tribe of the Koreish (Quraish) wanted the sole honor to put the Black Stone at its right place and disputed to the point of threats to fight each other. The Black Stone is a celestial material and is the only remaining part of the original building material of the Ka'bah].

9. In the realm of the King, who gives peace and protection to all, a wife asks her husband whether she should set before him curd or some other liquor. [Due to Prophet's protection and commandments, women could travel freely long distances without any escort or fear].

10. The ripe barley springs up from the cleft and rises towards heavens. The people prosper in the reign of the king who gives protection to all. [people rise from the depth of degradation to the height of glory].

11. Indra awoke the singer of his praises and asked him to go to the people in every direction. He was asked to glorify Indra, the mighty and all pious men would appreciate his effort and God would bestow on him His rewards. [The Prophet sent letters to several kings and rulers in every direction inviting them to Islam].

12. Cows, horses and men multiply and increase here, because here rules the one who is bountiful and splendidly generous who gives thousands in charity and sacrifice. [qualities of the Last Prophet].

13. O Indra, let these cows be safe, and let not their master be harmed. And let not an enemy, O Indra, or a robber overpower them. [Indra refers to God and cows to saintly followers of the Prophet].

Chapter 12 of the Kalki-Purana
" 'Jagatguru' will be born of 'Bishnuvagat' in the woumb of 'Sumati'.He will be born '2 hours after sunrise' on Monday, the 12th of 'Baishakh'. His father will die before his birth and his mother some time later after his birth. 'Jagatguru' will marry the princess of the 'Salmal' island. His uncle and three brothers will be present in his marriage ceremony. 'Pars-Ram' will teach him in a cave. When he will come to 'Sambala' from 'Salmal' island, to preach his teachings, his relatives will oppose him. He will be bound to migrate to the 'Northern Hills' to avoid the on-going torture and persecution. But after some time, he will return to 'Sambala' with 'sword in hand' and will 'conquer the whole land'. 'Jagatguru' will visit earth and the seven heavens riding on a 'horse' ".

Jagatguru :- "Jagat" means World, and as we all know "GURU" means "Teacher". and Sure Our beloved Prophet was illetrate Teacher of world.

Bishnuvagat :- in purana "Bishnu" means "God", and "Vagat" Means "Servent". in Arabic Abdullah means Server of God

Sumati :- 'Su' means 'Peace' or 'Self-Satisfaction', the arabic of which is 'Aman'. 'Mati' means 'Soul' or 'Heart'. Therefore, the meaning of 'Sumati' stands 'Satisfied Heart', and the arabic of which is "Amina". Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) mother's name is Amina.

12th Baishakh, Monday : According to the Bikrami Calender of India, the month Baishakh is known as the month of Spring. The arabic of 'Spring' is 'Rabi'. We know that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born on Monday, the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awual, the third month of the arabic calender.

2 Hours after Sunrise : If it is 2 hours after sunrise in India, the corresponding time in Arabia would be 2 hours and 40 minutes earlier (The lattitude of Arbia is 80 Degrees West and that of indi is 40 Degrees west: Therefore the time difference would be (80-40)x4=160 minutes). It is known that Muhammd (peace be upon him) was born at the early dawn, well before the sunrise in Mecca of Arabia ('Hijaj' was the then name of Arabia).

Salmal Island: In the Puranas of the Hindus the world has been divided into six parts. For example,
1. Jambu Island- India, Tibbet, Burma (i.e. Mayanmar) etc.
2. Shak Island- Europe
3. Karuncha Island- Beluchistan and Afganistan
4. Kaash Island- Africa
5. Shakli Island- Russia and China
6. Salmal Island- Arab and Asia Minor.

Pars-Ram: 'Ram' means Creator and 'Pars' means Axe, and sometimes it also means 'the Great'. Angel Gabriel is the highly dignified Angel of Allah (One True God), who used to deliver Allah's words or messages to the Prophets. The Message angel Gabriel brought to prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Allah was as sharp as an axe, which eliminated all the injustice and falsehood on earth. 'Pars-ram' thus refers to angel Gabriel, who is the axe-bearer of Allah.

Marriage: The first marriage of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was with Khadija, the daughter of the most famous and richest man in Arabia.Muhammad's uncle Abu Talib, and his three brothers Ali, Aakil and Jafar were present in his marriage ceremony.

Cave: Here the 'Cave' refers to the Cave of Mount 'Hera', where angle Gabriel appeared before Muhammd (peace be upon him) for the first time, and where Gabriel asked him to read- 'Ekra Bismi Rabbik-Allazi...' --Read in the name of your lord, Allah. This is the cave of Mount 'Hera'.

Sambala: The true meaning of this is not known. However, considering the events of Muhammad's (peace be upon him) life, it appears that the word Sambala refers to the city of Mecca.

The Northern Hills: It refers to the city of Medina (the early name was 'Yathrib'). The city of Medina is about 225 miles to the north of the city of Mecca. After being tortured by the tribe of Quraish, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) temporarily migrated to Medina to avoid further torture and persecution.

Sword in Hand: Prophet Muhammd (peace be upon him) and his followers gathered strength in Medina and they came with sword in hand to conquer Mecca. Here it referes to conquering the city of Mecca.

Conquer the whole land: After conquering the city of Mecca, the whole of Arbia was conquered by Prophet Muhammad and his later followers.

Horse: It refers to 'Burak', the carrier who took Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the miraculouus night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to the seven heavens, and finally to the Creator of the Universe, 'Allah'. And then returned again to earth within a very short time.

PROVING THE EXISTENCE OF GOD TO ATHEISTS

PROVING THE EXISTENCE OF GOD TO ATHEISTS

PROVING THE EXISTENCE OF GOD TO ATHEISTS
Congratulating an Atheist
Normally, when I meet an atheist, the first thing I like to do is to congratulate him
and say, " My special congratulations to you", because most of the people who
believe in God are doing blind belief - he is a Christian, because his father is a
Christian; he is a Hindu, because his father is a Hindu; the majority of the people
in the world are blindly following the religion of their fathers. An atheist, on the
other hand, even though he may belong to a religious family, uses his intellect to
deny the existence of God; what ever concept or qualities of God he may have
learnt in his religion may not seem to be logical to him.
My Muslim brothers may question me, "Zakir, why are you congratulating an
atheist?" The reason that I am congratulating an atheist is because he agrees
with the first part of the Shahada i.e. the Islamic Creed, ‘La ilaaha’ - meaning
‘there is no God’. So half my job is already done; now the only part left is ‘il lallah’
i.e. ‘BUT ALLAH’ which I shall do Insha Allah. With others (who are not atheists) I
have to first remove from their minds the wrong concept of God they may have
and then put the correct concept of one true God.
Logical Concept of God
My first question to the atheist will be: "What is the definition of God?" For a
person to say there is no God, he should know what is the meaning of God. If I
hold a book and say that ‘this is a pen’, for the opposite person to say, ‘it is not a
pen’, he should know what is the definition of a pen, even if he does not know nor
is able to recognise or identify the object I am holding in my hand. For him to say
this is not a pen, he should at least know what a pen means. Similarly for an
atheist to say ‘there is no God’, he should at least know the concept of God. His
concept of God would be derived from the surroundings in which he lives. The
god that a large number of people worship has got human qualities - therefore he
does not believe in such a god. Similarly a Muslim too does not and should not
believe in such false gods.
If a non-Muslim believes that Islam is a merciless religion with something to do
with terrorism; a religion which does not give rights to women; a religion which
contradicts science; in his limited sense that non-Muslim is correct to reject such
Islam. The problem is he has a wrong picture of Islam. Even I reject such a false
picture of Islam, but at the same time, it becomes my duty as a Muslim to present
the correct picture of Islam to that non-Muslim i.e. Islam is a merciful religion, it
gives equal rights to the women, it is not incompatible with logic, reason and
science; if I present the correct facts about Islam, that non-Muslim may Inshallah
accept Islam.
Similarly the atheist rejects the false gods and the duty of every Muslim is to
present the correct concept of God which he shall Insha Allah not refuse.
(You may refer to my article, ‘Concept of God in Islam’, for more details)
Qur'an and Modern Science
The methods of proving the existence of God with usage of the material provided
in the ‘Concept of God in Islam’ to an atheist may satisfy some but not all.
Many atheists demand a scientific proof for the existence of God. I agree that
today is the age of science and technology. Let us use scientific knowledge to kill
two birds with one stone, i.e. to prove the existence of God and simultaneously
prove that the Qur’an is a revelation of God.
If a new object or a machine, which no one in the world has ever seen or heard
of before, is shown to an atheist or any person and then a question is asked, "
Who is the first person who will be able to provide details of the mechanism of
this unknown object? After little bit of thinking, he will reply, ‘the creator of that
object.’ Some may say ‘the producer’ while others may say ‘the manufacturer.’
What ever answer the person gives, keep it in your mind, the answer will always
be either the creator, the producer, the manufacturer or some what of the same
meaning, i.e. the person who has made it or created it. Doesn’t grapple with
words, whatever answer he gives, the meaning will be same, therefore accept it.
Scientific Facts Mentioned in the Qur'an
Theory of Probability
In mathematics there is a theory known as ‘Theory of Probability’. If you have two
options, out of which one is right, and one is wrong, the chances that you will
chose the right one is half, i.e. one out of the two will be correct. You have 50%
chances of being correct. Similarly if you toss a coin the chances that your guess
will be correct is 50% (1 out of 2) i.e. 1/2. If you toss a coin the second time, the
chances that you will be correct in the second toss is again 50% i.e. half. But the
chances that you will be correct in both the tosses is half multiplied by half (1/2 x
1/2) which is equal to 1/4 i.e. 50% of 50% which is equal to 25%. If you toss a
coin the third time, chances that you will be correct all three times is (1/2 x 1/2 x
1/2) that is 1/8 or 50% of 50% of 50% that is 12½%.
A dice has got six sides. If you throw a dice and guess any number between 1 to
6, the chances that your guess will be correct is 1/6. If you throw the dice the
second time, the chances that your guess will be correct in both the throws is
(1/6 x 1/6) which is equal to 1/36. If you throw the dice the third time, the chances
that all your three guesses are correct is (1/6 x 1/6 x 1/6) is equal to 1/216 that is
less than 0.5 %.
Let us apply this theory of probability to the Qur’an, and assume that a person
has guessed all the information that is mentioned in the Qur’an which was
unknown at that time. Let us discuss the probability of all the guesses being
simultaneously correct.
At the time when the Qur’an was revealed, people thought the world was flat,
there are several other options for the shape of the earth. It could be triangular, it
could be quadrangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, octagonal, spherical,
etc. Lets assume there are about 30 different options for the shape of the earth.
The Qur’an rightly says it is spherical, if it was a guess the chances of the guess
being correct is 1/30.
The light of the moon can be its own light or a reflected light. The Qur’an rightly
says it is a reflected light. If it is a guess, the chances that it will be correct is 1/2
and the probability that both the guesses i.e the earth is spherical and the light of
the moon is reflected light is 1/30 x 1/2 = 1/60.
Further, the Qur’an also mentions every living thing is made of water. Every living
thing can be made up of either wood, stone, copper, aluminum, steel, silver, gold,
oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, oil, water, cement, concrete, etc. The options are
say about 10,000. The Qur’an rightly says that everything is made up of water. If
it is a guess, the chances that it will be correct is 1/10,000 and the probability of
all the three guesses i.e. the earth is spherical, light of moon is reflected light and
everything is created from water being correct is 1/30 x 1/2 x 1/10,000 = 1/60,000
which is equal to about .0017%.
The Qur’an speaks about hundreds of things that were not known to men at the
time of its revelation. Only in three options the result is .0017%. I leave it upto
you, to work out the probability if all the hundreds of the unknown facts were
guesses, the chances of all of them being correct guesses simultaneously and
there being not a single wrong guess. It is beyond human capacity to make all
correct guesses without a single mistake, which itself is sufficient to prove to a
logical person that the origin of the Qur’an is Divine.
Creator is the Author of the Qur'an
The only logical answer to the question as to who could have mentioned all these
scientific facts 1400 years ago before they were discovered, is exactly the same
answer initially given by the atheist or any person, to the question who will be the
first person who will be able to tell the mechanism of the unknown object. It is the
‘CREATOR’, the producer, the Manufacturer of the whole universe and its
contents. In the English language He is ‘God’, or more appropriate in the Arabic
language, ‘ALLAH’.
Qur'an is a Book of Signs and not Science
Let me remind you that the Qur’an is not a book of Science, ‘S-C-I-E-N-C-E’ but
a book of Signs ‘S-I-G-N-S’ i.e. a book of ayaats. The Qur’an contains more than
6,000 ayaats, i.e. ‘signs’, out of which more than a thousand speak about
Science. I am not trying to prove that the Qur’an is the word of God using
scientific knowledge as a yard stick because any yardstick is supposed to be
more superior than what is being checked or verified. For us Muslims the Qur’an
is the Furqan i.e. criteria to judge right from wrong and the ultimate yardstick
which is more superior to scientific knowledge.
But for an educated man who is an atheist, scientific knowledge is the ultimate
test which he believes in. We do know that science many a times takes ‘U’ turns,
therefore I have restricted the examples only to scientific facts which have
sufficient proof and evidence and not scientific theories based on assumptions.
Using the ultimate yardstick of the atheist, I am trying to prove to him that the
Qur’an is the word of God and it contains the scientific knowledge which is his
yardstick which was discovered recently, while the Qur’an was revealed 1400
year ago. At the end of the discussion, we both come to the same conclusion that
God though superior to science, is not incompatible with it.
Science is Eliminating Models of God but not God
Francis Bacon, the famous philosopher, has rightly said that a little knowledge of
science makes man an atheist, but an in-depth study of science makes him a
believer in God. Scientists today are eliminating models of God, but they are not
eliminating God. If you translate this into Arabic, it is La illaha illal la, There is no
god, (god with a small ‘g’ that is fake god) but God (with a capital ‘G’).
Surah Fussilat:
"Soon we will show them our signs in the (farthest) regions (of the earth), and in
their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not
enough that thy Lord doth witness all things?" [Al-Quran 41:53]

OH YOU HINDU AWAKE!

by
Dr. Chatterjee

THE HINDU RELIGION
In his autobiography, Dr. Charles, an American scholar says that it is very simple to define a Hindu. He says a Hindu means "one who believes anything and everything if said in the name of God and shall never question its authenticity".
The Brahmins claim that Lord Rama is incarnated (came in human form) to study and understand the difficulties of mankind. Is it really necessary for a god to incarnate Himself? Can He not understand His creation? Or has his intellect also been destroyed by the Brahmins ? Why should God become a donkey or a cockroach in order to understand the sufferings of these creatures?
LORD RAMA
Lord Rama is the central character of the Epic RAMAYANA (whose author was Valmiki). Rama is the son of Dasharath, the king of Banaras. Dasharath had three wives, Kaushaliya, Kaikeyi and Smitra besides several hundred concubines.
According to the Ramayana, Rama spent most of his life trying to save his wife Sita from the clutches of Ravan. At the same time Rama was enjoying life to the full at every opportunity. In addition, Rama is responsible for the genocide of Dravidians when he ordered the firing of Lanka which led to thousands of Dravidian men, women and children being burnt alive.
HOW RAMA WAS FOOLED BY SUKRIEVAN
When "god" Rama was exiled to the forest together with his wife, Sukrievan appeared as a deer and fooled "god" Rama. Although Rama was a "god", he was not able to see through Sukrievan's disguise.
12 YEARS FOR RAMA, BUT ONE DAY TO RAVAN
To retrieve his wife from `devil' Ravan, 'god' Rama sought the help of Hanuman, a monkey 'god'. Hanuman agreed to help Rama bring his wife back on condition that 'god' Rama in turn help him (Hanuman) to kill his twin brother prior to undertaking the mission. It took more than twelve years for Hanuman to build a bridge and accomplish the task, while Ravan just took Sita and flew to Sri Lanka in just one day's time. Where is the bridge that Rama built? Who is more powerful- 'god' Rama or devil Ravan? Would a 'god' seek the help of another 'god' to murder a third god?
* If Hanuman could fly carrying big mountains, he should have in the first instance carried and flown 'god' Rama to Sri Lanka, which would have resulted in early rescue of Sita.
Before helping 'god' Rama, Hanuman made Rama shoot his own twin brother in the back and only then did Hanuman help 'god' Rama. How can a "god" indulge in such a criminal act for personal gain?
MEAT-EATING RAMA
When 'god' Rama was told to go to the forest, he mournfully revealed to his mother: It has been ordained that I have to lose the kingdom, forego the princely comforts and the tasty MEAT-DISHES. (Ayothia Kandam, 20, 26, 94th Chapters).
RAMA'S MANY WIVES
In Mr. C.R. Sreenivasalyengar's translation of Valmiki Ramayana, it says: 'Though Rama had married Sita to be the queen, he married many other wives for sexual pleasure in accordance with the royal customs. (Ayodhya Kandam 8th Chapter, Page 28). (The term "Rama's wives" has been used in many places in Ramayana).
RAMA'S DISRESPECT FOR HIS FATHER
Rama called his father "a FOOL, an IDIOT" (Ayodhya Kandam, 53 rd Chapter).
RAMA'S CONTEMPT FOR WOMEN & LOW CASTES
Rama disfigured and mutilated many women by cutting off their noses, breasts, ears, etc. and tortured them (Soorpanagai, Ayomuki). Rama said, "Women should not be trusted" and that "Secret sshould not be confided to the wife". (Ayodhya Kandam, Chapter 100). Sambuka was slain (by Rama) because he was making penance which was forbidden to him by Vedas as he was a "Shudra". (Uttara Kandam, Chapter 76).
Looking at his hand Rama said the Sanskrit slogan "Oh right hand, you kill this Asche Shudra unhesitatingly as killing this Shudra is the only way to get back the life of the deceased Brahmin boy. Are you not one of the limbs of Rama?" (Valmiki Ramayanam)
Note: This Rama, who mercilessly took away the life of Sambuka for no other fault than that of making penance is held as the Avatar (incarnation) of Vishnu!
RAMA'S DEATH
Rama, like an ordinary man, fell down into the river and DROWNED (Uttara Kandam, Chapter 106). How can a "god" die? Who will then look after the affairs of the world?
LUSTFUL SITA VS THE "IMPOTENT" RAMA
The negationist television serials depict Sita as supposedly denying Ravan's advances. However, the oldest versions of Ramayana (read - those not yet manipulated by the Brahmins) belie these falsehoods, and amply demonstrate that Sita willingly eloped with Ravana, the Black Tamil King.
Thus Sita told Rama "You are no better than a womanmonger who lets his wife for hire and makes his livelihood. You want to be profited by my prostitution". Sita also told Rama "You lack in POTENCE, manners and charm" and she called her husband a simpleton.
As soon as Sita stepped into Ravan's palace, her love towards Ravan grew more. (Aranya Kandam, Chapter 54).
When at length Rama asked Sita to swear about her chastity, she declined and died. (Uttar Kandam, Chapter 97)
Kukuvavathy, sister-in-law of Rama, said to him - "Oh Elder! How you love Sita more than you love yourself! Come with me and see what really is in your lovely wife's heart. Still she could not forget that fellow Ravan. Drawing a picture of Ravan on a hand-fan and pressing it closely to her bosom. She is lying on your bed with eyes closed thinking on and rejoicing at Ravan's glories. Rama sighed and went out to Sita's house. There she was found sleeping pressing to her breast the hand-fan on which Ravan's picture was drawn." (This is found in pages 199, 200 of the Bengali Ramayana written by Mrs. Chandravathi).
WHAT LEADERS SAY ABOUT god RAMA?
When such dastardly acts are proven to have been perpetrated by Rama, the Brahmin leaders declare : "My Rama (god Rama) is not the Rama of Ramayana". So each Brahmin has his own Aryan god Rama, which does not exist in any text !
SOME QUOTATIONS ON RAMAYANA
MAHATHMA GHANDI : "The Ramayana and Mahabaratha are nothing but another Arabian Nights story".
JAWAHERLAL NEHRU : "Rama is not a god; but he is a hero ".
C. RAJAGOPALACHARI, First Governor General of India & Ex Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu). : "Ramayana is not a divine story; it is only a literature." -- cited in KALIYUGA KAMBAN, T.K. CHIDAMBARANATHA MUDALIAR
LORD KRISHNA
The cataclysmic Mahabharata War was engineered by this `god'. Lord Krishna was also very fond of looking at naked young girls. Once upon a time Krishna, in order to get a full view of some bathing virgin girls, went to the extent of hiding their clothes on the tree tops just to get a panaromic view. Does he obtain divine immunity from looking at a naked woman?
The Gita, a Holy Book of the Hindus, quotes that when these bathing low caste girls (gopis, or Sudra cow-herdesses) begged for the return of their clothes. Lord Krishna demanded that they come out of the water with their hands raised instead of covering their bodies. Can this action be attributed to a god? Is this god capable of indulging in such ungodly acts?
THE RIDDLE OF RAMA AND KRISHNA
The Times of India reported on 12-11-87 that the Education Department, Government of Maharashtra, had published a book called "The Riddle of Rama and Krishna" by Dr. Ambedkar.
The report said that various statements contained in the book aroused the ire of some Brahmins, particularly the author's observations on Rama and Dasharath's many wives and also Krishna's moral character. (The Riddle of Rama and Krishna, available from Dalit Sahithya Academy, Bangalore). This book it a must read for all.
GOD SHIVA, LORD GANESH & GODDESS PARVATHL
According to Hinduism, god Shiva's head is the source of the river Ganges and his head is also the place where the moon is located. (If this was really a fact then why should America send astronaut Neil Armstrong 240,000 miles away to the moon ?).
According to Puranans, goddess Parvathi, wife of god Shiva, sought Shiva's permission to have a baby. When Shiva refused, Parvathi took dirt from her body and created Lord Ganesh.
Later God Shiva mistakenly chopped off his own son's head. How could a "god" make such a foolish mistake? Would such a god solve your problems or make them more complicated?
To rectify his error god Shiva severed the head of a baby elephant and transplanted it onto his son who then became known as the Elephant-headed god. His statues are usually found near river-sides where he is said to be looking for a bride resembling his mother! (There is a different version to this story which, for decency's sake, cannot be printed here).
KALI-GODDESS OF VIOLENCE
A recent report by United Press trust of India (UPI) stated that during the past three years more than 2,500 young boys and girls were sacrificed to goddess Kali in India. Another of AFP's recent reports say: hundreds of young boys and virgin girls are sacrificed every month for the deity Kali. In one case Rama Sewak hacked his eight year old son to death in broad daylight in Dehii because goddess Kali had told him he would come back to life and bring him good fortune. Bloodthirsty Kali is worshipped openly the length and breadth of India.
Kali's statue stands naked astride the inanimate body of the Hindu deity Shiva, tongue stuck out with blood dripping from fang-like teeth. She holds a noose, a skull-topped staff, a blood-encrusted sword and a severed head. She is also known as Durga, Devi, Shaktima, Uma and Parvathi in other manifestations.
The priest of Delhi, Kali Bari, says that a child sacrificed to Kali ensures a man the birth of a son. Human sacrifices are also made to these gods or goddesses, either to appease them or to ask favours of them.
Bihar's police chief J. Sahay said: "We have tried our best to curb human sacrifices, but what can an agency do when an entire village chooses a victim and cuts off his head with his parent's consent." Bihar's famous lawyer, Urnkant Chaturvedi, said that "Human sacrifice under our law is treated as murder, but the killer- never found - is always the local high priest." He continues, "at times the local policemen are reluctant to take action because of the inbred fear of the gods and goddesses."
A famous human sacrifice occurred in 1972 when a powerful leader in Maharashtra state- in order to find a treasure - offered blood from 11 virgin girls to Manja. He did not find the treasure, but four persons were hanged for the crime and the main culprit escaped because of his political influence. Some time ago, two brothers named Siddharth and Ravi asked their 21 year old sister Shobha to take a bath and come for prayers to a nearby temple in Kerala State. To her horror, the brothers pierced her with a sword and iron rods whilst chanting Vedic mantras. Withering in pain, she begged for pity, but she was cut to pieces and her body burned bit by bit. The brothers had done it to unearth a hidden treasure. At first they tried to find another victim but when they failed to find another virgin girl, they sacrificed their own sister.
One may ask why this human sacrifice is so prevalent in Brahmanic society and is sanctioned in the Vedas (where it is mentioned as `purushamedha'? Only Brahmin children are exempted by the Vedas from human sacrifice.
GODDESS PANCHALI
This goddess was married to five brothers. Which one would become the legitimate father of his child should she have one? Dr Charles says that instances of incest are common in Hindu scriptures.
SHANKARACHARYA OF PURI - "HIS HOLINESS"!
SHANKARACHARYA OF PURI, NIRANJAN DEV TEERTH, one of the BRAHMINS' supreme Spiritual leaders, gave an interview to the Kalyan (Hindu) monthly magazine. Extracts are given below:
Q: "Maharaj! if a Shudra acts righteously, can he become a Brahmin?"
A: "If the Shudra acts according to his code and keeps within the limit of Varnashrama he may become a Brahmin in the next birth - but never in the present."
Q: "Is the belief in the caste system essential?"
A: "Yes, it is very essential. There can be no PROGRESS without belief in caste system.
Q: "Maharaj! The change of caste depends on deeds and virtues."
A: "No, it depends on birth and not on deeds. Caste depends on birth, deeds cannot change it. This is an IRREFUTABLE TRUTH".
At the inaugurating of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (RSS Branch) at Patna in April 1969, the Shankaracharya (of course he is a Brahmin! ) said: "Untouchabitity is a part and parcel of Hindu social system, I shall cling to this belief even if they HANG ME. "
On Low Caste Hindus! Have a look and see what the Brahmin MANU says (Chapter VIII Sloka 4,14). "Slavery is inborn among the Shudras and no one can free them from it".
The Brahmin MANU again says in Chapter 19, Sloka 413: "Sri Brahmin had intended from eternity that the Untouchables should be born slaves, live as slaves, and die as slaves."
On another occasion the Acharya said that there was no way out for a woman who becomes a widow other than to commit Sati. He said he will oppose the Sati law even if the Government of India HANGS him.
Instead of sending him to prison, according to the Indian constitution, this fanatic priest is often visited and worshipped by the top Brahmin leaders in India.
IMPORTANT QUESTIONS
Does Hinduism have the answers for todays problems? Alcoholism - Drugs- Divorce - Suicide etc. To these gods move, think or speak? Can they defend themselves if attacked; or mend themselves if broken? Don't you think it foolish to worship these manmade objects?
Ask yourself who is your God? Is it Shiva, who has the moon and river Ganges on his head and who could not identify his own son? Or is it Rama who couldn't see through Sukrievan's disguise and who murdered another god? Or could it be Krishna, the "playboy god"?
The Continuing War on Low Caste Hindus......
NEW DELHI, Sept. 19 (R) - Three Indian students set themselves ablaze today to try to shock the government into scrapping plans to reserve more government jobs for low castes in the Hindu hierarchy.
'This (job's plan) is for the poor classes who have been denied their rights for thousands of years. The students shouldn't come in their way," Paswan told Reuters. Protests led by upper-caste students began sweeping north India soon after Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh said on August 7 that 27 percent of government jobs would be set aside for low castes.
Paswan was himself born an "untouchable" or outcast in the system, which traditionally decides occupation and status by birth. "Untouchables" prefer to call themselves "Dalits," the oppressed. Paswan told a conference of political leaders and officials today that the jobs plan had to go ahead to raise the status of low castes and create a more sympathetic bureaucracy.
He said the upper castes were still taking jobs set aside 40 years ago for Dalits by simply delaying the implementation of reservation policies. Bureaucrats would employ an upper-caste graduate with irrelevant qualifications for a typist's job and turn down a Dalit trained to type at 60 words per minute, he said.

Women in Hinduism

Women in Hinduism

women in Vedas

Women in Vedas Soma Sablok The Indian Constitution guarantees equal rights to both the sexes and does not discriminate on the basis of caste, color and creed However, despite the constitutional provisions, do women enjoy equality with men ?

The answer is 'No'. Their condition still remains miserable. Newspaper carry report of rape and burning of women for not bringing sufficient dowry or their inability to satisfy the demands of greedy in laws.

Basically, out present attitude towards women streams from our religious scriptures which refer to women as contempt. Our oldest book are the 'Vedas' which contain highly objectionable and condemnable passages concerning women. Taking cue from the 'Vedas' authors of subsequent religious scriptures referred to women in more contemptuous form. 'Sati pratha' (custom of burning the widow with the body of her husband), 'Dasi Pratha' (keeping the slave girls), 'Niyog Pratha' (ancient Aryan custom of childless widow or women having sexual intercourse with a man other than husband to beget child), were among cruel customs responsible for the plight of the women.

Naturally, seeking shelter under such religious sanctions, unscrupulous women disgraced women to the maximum possible extent and made them means of satisfying their lust. No one wanted a daughter. As a result; female infant came to be considered unwanted. No one wanted a daughter. Everyone was interested in having a son. The birth of the son was celebrated, but the birth of the daughter plunged family into gloom. This attitude still persists, even though certain other customs have undergone changes.

'Rig Veda' itself says that a women should beget sons. The newly married wife is blessed so that she could have 10 sons. So much so, that for begetting a son, 'Vedas' prescribe a special ritual
called 'Punsawan sanskar' (a ceremony performed during third month of pregnancy). During the ceremony it is prayed:

"Almighty God, you have created this womb. Women may be born somewhere else but sons should be born from this womb" - Atharva Ved 6/11/3

"O Husband protect the son to be born. Do not make him a women" - Atharva Ved 2/3/23

In 'Shatpath Puran (shatpath Brahman)' a sonless women has been termed as unfortunate.

'Rig Veda' censures women by saying:
"Lord Indra himself has said that women has very little intelligence. She cannot be taught" - Rig Ved 8/33/17

At another placein Rig Ved it is written:
"There cannot be any friendship with a women. Her heart is more cruel than heyna" - Rig Ved 10/95/15.

'Yajur Ved (Taitriya Sanhita)'m- "Women code says that the women are without energy. They should not get a share in property. Even to the wicked they speak in feeble manner" - Yajur Ved 6/5/8/2

Shatpath Puran, preachings of the 'Yajur Veda' clubs women, 'shudras'(untouchables), doga, crows together and says falsehood, sin and gloom remain integrated in them. (14/1/1/31)

In 'Aiterey Puran', preaching of the 'Rig Veda' in harsih chandra -Narad dialogue, Narad says: "The daughter causes pain"

Despicable
To insult and humiliate women further, the religious books speak of women having sexual intercourse with animals or expressing desire for intercourse with them. What further insult can be heaped on women.
In 'Yajur Veda' such references are found at a number of places where the principal wife of the host is depicted as having intercourse with a horse.

For example consider the following hymn:
"All wife of the host reciting three mantras go round the horse. While praying, they say: 'O horse, you are, protector of the community on the basis of good qualities, you are, protector or treasure of happiness. O horse, you become my husband.'" - Yajur Veda 23/19.

After the animal is purified by the priest, the principal wife sleeps near the horse and says: "O Horse, I extract the semen worth conception and you release the semen worth conception'" - Yajur Veda 23/20.

The horse and principal wife spread two legs each. Then the Ardhvaryu (priest) orders to cover the oblation place, raise canopy etc. After this, the principal wife of the host pulls penis of the horse and puts it in her vagina and says: "This horse may release semen in me." -Yajur Veda 23/20.

Then the host, while praying to the horse says:
"O horse, please throw semen on the upper part of the anus of my wife. Expand your penis and insert it in the vagina because after insertion, this penis makes women happy and lively" - 23/21.

In the Vedic age, the customs of polygamy was prevalent. Each wife spent most of the time devising ways and means to become favorite to her husband.

Clear references are available in 'Rig Veda', (14/45),' and Atharva Veda (3/81)'

Custom of Polygamy

The Aryans in those days used to attack the original inhabitants of this place, or other tribe within their own race; loot them and snatch away their women. Thus, militant and wicked men had more wives. This custom of polygamy helped a great deal in bringing down the women.

In 'Rig Ved' (10/59) it is written that Lord Indra had many queens that were either defeated or killed by his principal wife.

In 'Aitrey Puran', preachings of 'Rig Veda', (33/1), there is a reference to the effect that Harish Chandra had one hundred Wives.

'Yajur Veda' in the context of 'Ashva Medha' (Horse Sacraficing ceremony), says that many wives of Harish Chandra participated in the 'Yagyna' (religious sacrafice).

In 'Shatpath Puran(Shatpath Brahmin)', preachings (13/4/1/9), of the Veda, it is written that four wives do service in 'Ashva Megha'. In another Puran (Tatiraity Brahamin, 3/8/4), it is written that wives are like property.

Not only one man had many wives (married and slave girls), but there were cases of many men having a joint wife. It is confirmed from the following hymn in 'Atharva Veda': "O men, sow a seed in this fertile women" - Atharva Veda 14/1

Both these customs clearly show that a women was treated like a moving property. The only difference between the two customs was that whereas according to former one man had a number of movable properties, in the latter, women a joint movable property.

'Vedas' also sanction 'Sati Pratha

Widow was burnt at the funeral Pyre of her husband. The widow was burnt at the funeral pyre of her husband so that she may remain his slave, birth after birth and may never be released from the bonds of slavery.

The Atharva Veda says:
"O dead man following the religion and wishing to go to the husbands world, his women comes to you."  In the other world also may you give her children and wealth in the same manner. In the 'Vedas', widow is treated inhumanly. For example it is mentioned that on death of her husband, the wife was handed over to some other man, or to her husband younger brother.

Swami Vivekananda opines that even at that time women used to have sexual intercourse with a person other than her husband to beget a child. The hymn says:
"O woman, get up and adopt the worldly life again. It is futile to lie with this dead man. Get up and become the wife of the man who is holding your hand and who loves you. - Rig Ved 10/18/8

Apparently this shows that woman is considered to be a property. Whenever and whosoever desired, could become her master. If the women was not remarried, then her head was shaved. This is evident from Atharva Veda (14/2/60).

This custom was obviously meant to disgrace her. For what connection does shaving of widows head has with the death of her husband ? The condition of widows was miserable. She was considered to be a harbinger of inauspiciousness and was not allowed to participate in ceremonies like marriage. This custom is still prevalent in some places. She has to spend her life alone In Rig Veda therre are references to slave girls being given in charity as gifts. After killing the menfolk of other tribes, particularly of the native inhabitants, their women were rounded up and used as slave girls. It was custom to present slave girls to one other as gifts. The kings used to present chariots full of slave girls to their kith and kin and preists (Rig Veda 6/27/ . King Trasdasyu had given 50 slave girls. It was custom to present slave girls to Saubhri Kandav (Rig Veda 8/38, 5/47/6).

Intercourse without marriage

A slave girl was called 'Vadhu' (wife), with whom sexual intercourse could be performed without any kind of marriage ceremony. These girls belonged to the men who snatched them from the enemies, or who had received them in dowry, or as gifts. Only the men to whom they belonged could have sexual intercourse with them. But some slave girls were kept as joint property of the tribe or the village. Any man could have sexual rlations with them. These girls became the prostitutes. The 'Vedas' also talk about 'Niyog', the custom of childless, widow or woman having sexual intercourse with a person other than her husband to beget a child.

In simple words 'Niyog' means sending a married woman or a widow to a particular man for sexual intercourse so that she gets a son. Indication of this custom is available in 'Rig Veda' In 'Aadiparva' of 'Mahabharata' (chap. 95 and 103), it is mentioned that Satywati had appointed her son to bestow sons to the queens of Vichitrvirya, the younger brother of Bhishma, as a result of which Dhratrashtra and Pandu were born.

Pandu himself has asked his wife, Kunti, to have sexual intercourse with a brahmin to get a son (Aadi Parva, chapters 120 to 123).

Chastity of woman was not safe

In the name of 'beejdan' (seed donation), they used to have sexual intercourse with issueless women. This was a cruel religious custom and the chastity of the women was not safe. The so called caretakers of the religion were allowed to have sexual intercourse with other man's wife. From 'Niyog pratha' it csn be inferred withouth fear of contradiction that women were looked upon as mere child producing machines.

In 'The Position of women in Hindu Civilization' Dr. B. R. Ambedkar writes:
"Though women is not married to man, she was considered to be a property of the entire family. But she was not getting share out of the property of her husband, only son could be successor to the property."

Gajdhar Prasad Baudh says: " No woman of the Vedic age can be treated as pure. Vedic man could not keep even the relations brother-sister and father-daughter sacred from the oven of rape and debauchery/adultery named 'Niyog'. Under the influence of intoxication of wine, they used to recognize neither their sister nor their daughter and also did not keep the relations with them in mind. It is evident from their debauchery and adultery what a miserable plight of women was society in then. (Refer 'Arya Niti Ka Bhadaphor'. 5th Edition page 14).

In the 'Vedas' there are instances where daughter was impregnated by her father and the sister by her brother. The following example of sexual intercourse is found between father and daughter in the 'Rig Veda':
"When father had sexual intercourse with his daughter, then with the help of earth he released his semen and at that time the Righteous Devas (deities) formed this 'Vartrashak (Rudra) Devta' (Pledge keeper diety named Rudra)" - Atharva Veda (20/96/15).

Women: Low grade creatures

From the aforesaid account, it is clear that in the Vedas women have been considered to be low grade creatures. It is high time we expose scriptures, preaching such inhuman teachings so that they lose their credibility. Only then can there be a hope on women's liberation, and of equality between sexes which is guaranteed by Indian constitution.
